IMportant Update from The National Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and the office of the Shrine Director
I know we have all experienced many hard times, each in our own way and carrying our own burdens! We have spent many hours praying during these past few months, especially for victims of Coronavirus, family and friends touched by hardship and job loss, children trying to cope with new learning experiences, those who have missed out on special occasions and moments of celebration and so many challenging times!
Here at The National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we are thankful for all of your prayers and concern. Your prayers are heartfelt, and we appreciate your notes and phone calls. We also appreciate those who were financially able to send in a donation to support our ongoing efforts to evangelize and remain a constant presence to all via our website and Facebook efforts. To all those who sought a day of personal prayer in our outdoor meditation garden, or just sat in our parking lot to pray a rosary or send a psalm our way, we say “thank you” and know that our prayers are with you also!
Please note: The Shrine will be open for private prayer beginning Monday, June 1st from 9:00 - 3:00pm every day except Sunday. You are asked to remain socially distant and wear a face mask during your visit. Restroom access will not be available at this time. Saturday Confessions will not be held until further notice. Please call the Gift Store at 845-344-2226 for opening information. We will continue to update the Shrine and Gift Store schedule as new information becomes available. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
In the meantime, Let Nothing Disturb You!
Shrine Director, 845-343-1879
The National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was founded to encourage and perpetuate devotion to Mary and her scapular under the special title of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Situated on 60 beautiful acres in the mid-Hudson region of New York State, the shrine is open 7 days a week, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm year around. Daily mass is celebrated Monday through Friday, 11:30 am and Sundays at 12 noon. A healing mass is also celebrated on the last Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm. All pilgrims are welcome to the Shrine. Here you can witness the importance of prayer in your life while deepening your commitment to God and devotion to Our Lady.
Visitors may participate in daily and Sunday liturgies, days of recollection, novenas and celebrations for Carmelite feast days, the sacrament of reconciliation and the outdoor Stations of the Cross. Our programs promote the spirituality of prayer, reflection, meditation and devotion to Mary and the Carmelite saints. Visit the Carmelite Gift Store, relax in the picnic grove or stroll along trails bordered by lakes and enhanced by a Cloister Walk with Carmelite Stations of the Cross and outdoor shrines.
The shrine is ministered by the Carmelite Friars of the North American Province of St. Elias, the St. Edith Stein Chapter of Lay Carmelites and The Friends of the Shrine.
